In Hiroshima there is a college-level music event called "Hiroshima Onbi." This year, the Ehime University Symphonic Band joined.
We had to leave really early in the morning, like around 5:30 AM. I remember biking to school and just feeling weird about seeing zero cars. I don't remember exactly how long it took, but it was definitely more than a couple hours by charter bus. I just listened to music and tried to sleep.
Hiroshima is a huge city. Think of it like San Francisco but flat and really spread out with rivers.
I wasn't going to be performing as much because I came to Japan halfway through their semester, so I didn't have a lot of the music. But! I was going to be performing a snippet of our end-of-year concert.
While everyone practiced, I just went around doing random things, like buying a digital tuner.
At night, Baagan (real name is Kenta), on the bottom right of the picture, took me, Sako, and Tomochika out to eat okonomiyaki. It's a type of noodle pancake that Hiroshima is famous for. On the way back I noticed all of the Christmas and winter lights and took some pictures.
The next day, we performed and then went home!
