So the English Speaking Society (ESS), the club that I joined, saved up most of the club funds so that at the end of Summer they could have a big party. This is called "Summer Seminar" and would be over two days. The first day would be a kind of movie night, and the second day would be a barbecue/swimming somewhere (sorry to spoil for the next blog post).
At around 2 pm we met up in the Japanese-style room to watch the movie "Tenet." Previously there was a poll to see what kind of movie we should watch, and "action" won. When we met up we did our usual meeting with a game, and then all went down to the school shop to buy snacks. The day prior I had closed my school IC (AIPA) card, meaning that I could no longer put money into it or use it. They told me to feel free to spend the remaining money and keep the card though. So, the last item I ended up buying from the school was a salt/butter flavored chocolate bar.
Anyways, we went back to the room and started the movie. A whole bunch of us guys laid down on the floor along the window and got comfortable with the dozens of cushions. I think I fell asleep for a little while but so did a lot of people. Some of them put cushions together so that it was like a blanket. The movie was okay, not the most exciting even though it was directed by Christopher Nolan.
At about 5:30 we were done and going out to dinner. We had plans to go to everyone's favorite Sumile for okonomiyaki. When we were there, I decided that I was going to try their Wagyu steak. I remember my clubmates saying that it "sounded cool" to hear me order that. But man was I disappointed. There was very little "steak" and not much other food with it aside from some onions. It was nothing like a Texas steak. It was sizzling and had a little bit of a smoky flavor. Some of the others couldn't finish all of their food so they gave me some of their leftover okonomiyaki.
After that we broke off and headed home, thus concluding the first day of the "Summer Seminar."
