For New Years Eve, the international students were going to one of our favorite hangouts, Deutch Haus, a German bar. But before that, Kim and I decided that we were going to prepare a New Years Eve dinner and eat together in the dorm while watching Ponyo. Later I invited another Korean student, Yoon, to come over. We decided to make kimchi nabe hot pot. We went to Fuji Grand, everyone's favorite 6-story mini mall and got a hot pot. After we went home and dropped it off, we went to the store and bought all of the ingredients. We rested and I cleaned up my room until 8pm when we met up in my room and all three of us in the tiny thing prepared it together. We ate it all, talked, watched Ponyo, and after that we went to Deutch Haus.
Before that, we picked up our classmate from Algeria, Omar. So, he got to experience Deutch Haus for the first time.
The owner, Klaus, made a New Years Stew which was free for anyone who purchased something. I decided to try Clausthaler non-alcoholic beer which was actually the best tasting one I had. Someone brought a bag of mikan oranges, which became a "staple" as they would press it in the a juicer and it would taste really good. We counted down to midnight and then went home. Yoon really likes magic, and had something to show us.
