For Christmas, my mom sent me Marie Callendar's instant cornbread mix. Although it was originally meant for me, I wanted to bake it and give it to some other students at the end of the semester. In Japan, different kinds of bread are very popular, so I thought a bread made with "corn" might be fun for people to try.I enlisted Junko for her help, and she took me over to her apartment where we used her teeny little baking oven. It took a while, because of how small it was, and we had to make a couple batches, but it turned out good! It tasted really good, I was surprised. I gave some to June, and then put the rest in air-tight containers.
On Friday the 28th, I gave out a whole bunch. I brought some to the last meeting for my speech class, and I brought some to my seminar class with my study abroad professor and advisor. People really liked it. Before bringing it to my seminar, I asked my professor Tokuoka to prepare some honey. When I brought it, we heated up the cornbread a little and handed it out. One of the other students I knew, Saku, also came in and I had him try some. There is a picture of him. I found it really cool and really funny that I was able to impress so many people with cornbread.
