In the morning after church service, my tutor Rin told me that she was having a stand to support the non-profit she volunteers with. It's at Matsuyama's famous Gogoshima island, and they were selling lemon flavored pastries. I biked over to this whole street fair, and said hi. We took some pictures, I bought some cake, she introduced me to her friends, and then I was off on my way.
In the afternoon, Kim and I planned to go check out Bansuisou, a French inspired building that was owned by the former daimyo's son and would sometime host the emperor of Japan. Honestly, it felt like any other old building you can visit in Sacramento. You can see pictures below. My favorite part was that they had a scale model of Natsume Souseki's house, which was originally located near Bansuisou. After walking through the small building, we tried out the on-site cafe. We sat down outside and ordered some expensive cake and enjoyed the rest of our time in the aesthetically pleasing environment.
Since we still had time, we decided to go visit the home of the Akiyama brothers. Yoshifuru Akiyama was a famous Japanese general who lead during the Russo-Japanese war. It was interesting seeing a home from the Meiji restoration era. Other than that it was not very exciting and very small.
That night, we were going to have a meeting in my room to discuss our upcoming trip to Kochi. So Kim and I went to the large Fuji supermarket and bought groceries. I made chili, but with sweet kidney beans.
